Hi, I'm John, a Technology Professional in Ohio.
About Me
After twenty years of experience managing restaurants and retail, always with an eye toward the systems and tools that make modern restaurants possible, I've shifted to a new path out of restaurant operations and into the development and oversight of those systems and tools. I started off as a dishwasher at a buffet-style restaurant in the Ohio River Valley, and I've spent my years working under two guiding principles. First, never stop learning about others; the more I know about my colleague's jobs, the better I will understand my own. Second, whatever job I'm doing today, right now: be better at it than anybody has ever seen before. If I'm not better that's okay; I just have more learning to do.
Now that I have had two decades of restaurant management, loss prevention, financial analysis, human resources, maintenance, technology, and local marketing experience, I'm laser focused on the systems, tools, and processes that will establish a solid foundation for my company.
When I started working I was the most effective, efficient dishwasher that anybody had ever worked with in that restaurant. Today I strive to be the most well-rounded, well-informed, proactive IT Director that anybody has ever worked with in my organization. Everything I've done since have been a series of learning milestones along the path that got me from there to here.
Professional Goals
My goal is to create effective partnerships with all of my colleagues. I work to accomplish this daily by striving to understand their work, their responsibilities, and how my role can impact their needs in a positive way. I am taking classes with the School of Information Technology at Kent State University to expand my depth of knowledge about my own responsibilities, while simultaneously attending workshops and classes about accounting, marketing, and operations to extend my breadth of knowledge about theirs.
